The U.S. Soccer Coaching Education Department and the U.S. Soccer New York City Development Council invite coaches in the NYC region to apply for need-based scholarship funding to support you in your next USSF coaching course.

(1) Scholarship funding is available for qualified candidates to participate in the National B, C or D-License course. Review the qualifications for each course here: National B, National C, and National D.

(2) To apply, coaches must reside or coach for a Club in one of the zip codes indicated here. This scholarship opportunity is a pilot coaching education program currently specific to the NYC region, due to the generous support of the NYC Development Council and local donors.

Coaching candidates can receive the following financial aid:

For courses where the registration fee exceeds the scholarship award, candidates are responsible for paying the remaining fee to participate in the course.

Should the scholarship award exceed the cost of the course, candidates will be able to participate in the course cost-free. The remaining funding will be released back to U.S. Soccer for future programs.

Applications will be accepted at any time during the following application period:

  • Application portal opens -- Thursday, February 21 at 8:00AM EST

  • Application portal closes -- Friday, March 22 at 11:59PM EST

B-License candidates must also apply and be selected as part of the regular course application process through the Digital Coaching Center. The B-License application period was Feb. 21 to March 10, 2019. B-License candidates will be alerted regarding their course acceptance and scholarship award together in early April.

The U.S. Soccer Coaching Education Department will review all applications, and the NYC Development Council will support in the final selection of scholarship recipients based on the information provided.

C-License and D-License scholarship award winners will be notified in late April. The scholarship will be automatically applied as a "discount" on the payment page, when the coaching candidate registers for his or her next course through the DCC. Scholarship recipients must participate in their next course within 12 months of receiving notification of their award.

To apply, you will need to:

  • Complete the following brief online form, including personal contact details, Club information and coaching details.

  • Provide a personal statement indicating why you should be selected to receive this scholarship award. Personal statements should be no more than 250 words and may be provided in the applicant’s preferred language, including Spanish.

  • Attach a letter of recommendation from Club leadership or coaching colleague. The letter of recommendation must be on official Club letterhead.

To apply for the scholarship, log into your account on the Digital Coaching Center. Eligible coaches will receive a notification with the application links.
