JOIN U.S. SOCCER DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL MEMBERS IN BUILDING THE FUTURE
Good coaches can improve the lives of players, the culture of clubs, and the strength of communities. Great coaches can develop the next generation of world-class players.
In the United States, many coaches do not have access to adequate resources and training. Young players from underserved communities especially miss the opportunity to learn and grow from a licensed and educated coach.
That’s why the U.S. Soccer Development Councils are proud to support U.S. Soccer in its Coach for Community initiative.
Coach for Community is a free coaching education program in partnership with U.S. Soccer members across America, bringing education and resources to coaches from underserved communities.

LEARN MORE ABOUT COACH FOR COMMUNITY
U.S. Soccer’s Coach for Community program will help develop more and better coaches across the United States, increasing positive player engagement and retention - for both coaches and players.
What is U.S. Soccer’s Coach for Community goal? In partnership with Members, U.S. Soccer is working to impact 25,000 participants through Coach for Community sessions hosted across the nation.
Who’s invited? Coaches of all levels (volunteer, professional, high school, college, etc) that are interested in gaining access to more coaching education opportunities are welcome - as well as parents, partners, club leaders, and ultimately even players.
Why does it work? The most effective part of Coach for Community is that its versatile - an educational road show and tool kit that can be modified to fit the needs of the audience with both classrooms and field sessions. The experience can last from one to three hours, depending on what works best for the community.
What is taught? Training focuses on two core areas: (1) “Player Development Methodology” - also known as Play-Practice-Play (PPP). Training is meant to be fun, especially for young players! (2) Player Development Initiatives (PDIs). These are the basics… how many players should be on the field per age group? What’s the field size? How is the gamed timed? What is the ideal ratio of games to graining for different age groups?
What is the benefit of participating? In addition to a free training opportunity, participants also receive free access to taking an online grassroots coaching education course at the U.S. Soccer Learning Center.
How can I support? U.S. Soccer is a 501(c)3 nonprofit. Donate now to support Coach for Community or other soccer programs advising diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
