Have questions about the NYC Coaching Education Scholarship Program? Check our Frequently Asked Questions below. If you don’t find an answer here, please contact the U.S. Soccer Coaching Education Department at scholarships@ussoccer.org.
Am I eligible for a scholarship?
You are eligible to apply if you:
Meet the eligibility criteria for the B, C, or D License coaching course
Live or coach in one of the eligible ZIP codes
As the B License course has its own application process, candidates for the B License must also apply and be accepted to the B License course.
Please note that the NYC Coaching Education Scholarship Program is not issuing new scholarships at this time.
Where can I find the eligibility requirements for the coaching courses?
The eligibility requirements for each course can be found on the following pages:
What is the scholarship amount?
Scholarship amounts vary by license:
B License scholarship: $3,000 (full scholarship)
C License scholarship: $1,000
D License scholarship: $250
Participation in the B License course is fully funded. Candidates for the C and D License course will be responsible for paying any remaining fees. If the scholarship award exceeds the cost of the course, candidates will participate in the course cost-free and the balance of scholarship funds will be released to U.S. Soccer to support coaching education programming.
I was awarded a scholarship. How do I access the funding?
Scholarship funds will be loaded into your U.S. Soccer Learning Center account and will be applied to your B, C, or D License course when you complete your course registration. If you are logged in, the price you see listed for the course is the remaining cost after your scholarship has been applied.
Do I have to take my C or D License course in the NYC Metro Area?
If receiving scholarship funds for a C or D License course, you can take the course at any hosting organization throughout the country. Check the USSLC for course schedules:
In-person meetings for B License courses are hosted by U.S. Soccer at the National Development Center in Kansas City.
I already registered and paid for my C or D License course before I was awarded a scholarship. What should I do?
Please contact scholarships@ussoccer.org if you have already registered and paid for your next course prior to receiving notification of your scholarship. Scholarship funds cannot be applied to courses that are already underway or have already been completed.
Why is this program only in the NYC metro area?
This is currently a pilot program made possible by the generous support of the U.S. Soccer NYC Development Council and local supporters looking to make an impact on the beautiful game in their community. After the NYC metro area pilot program, U.S. Soccer will review the results with the hope of bringing the program to other markets in the future.
